Tervel Dlagnev named TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week for Aug. 25-31

Tervel Dlagnev (Columbus, Ohio/Sunkist Kids) has been named TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week for Aug. 25-31.
Each week, TheMat.com will select an Athlete of the Week, based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling, from youth programs through the Senior level.
Dlagnev has earned praise from U.S. National coaches for the work ethic, attitude and leadership he has displayed during the final World Team Camp for freestyle wrestling at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Dlagnev, a 2008 World University champion, made his first U.S. World Team this year at 120 kg/264.5 lbs.
Dlagnev, a two-time NCAA Division II champion for Nebraska-Kearney, recently won the Heydar Aliyev Golden Grand Prix in Baku, Azerbaijan. He beat 2009 European champion Ali Isayev of Azerbaijan in the finals.
Dlagnev is scheduled to compete at the World Championships on Sept. 22 in Herning, Denmark.
