Each week, TheMat.com will select an Athlete of the Week, based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling, from youth programs through the Senior level.

Lester made a triumphant return in winning the Dave Schultz Memorial International Open in Greco-Roman on Feb. 6 in Colorado Springs.

The 25-year-old Lester came out of retirement to win the title at his new weight class of 74 kg/163 lbs. Lester, who trains at the U.S. Olympic Education Center at Northern Michigan University, went 4-0 in the tournament.

Lester, a two-time World bronze medalist, beat Jake Fisher 1-1, 2-1 in the semifinals before winning by forfeit over Olympic Trials runner-up Cheney Haight in the finals.

Lester retired after placing third at the 2008 Olympic Team Trials. He was competing for the first time in nearly eight months.
