Pat Prada (Laurel, Md./Team Maryland) has been named TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week for April 14-20.
Each week, TheMat.com will select an Athlete of the Week, based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling, from youth programs through the Senior level.
Prada went 7-0 at 117 pounds, and was named Outstanding Wrestler at the NWCA Brute Scholastic Showcase held in York, Pa., April 17-18.
Along the way Prada defeated two state champions, a state runner-up and four other state placers.
His effort helped lead Team Maryland to a third-place finish in this respected national dual meet tournament. The Showcase features wrestlers in grades 9-11 competing for state-level teams. A total of 18 teams participated this year.
Prada, who attends DeMatha, placed third at the 2009 Prep School National Championships at 112 pounds as a junior.
Note: To nominate a wrestler for TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week, send the athlete's name, accomplishments for the week and career accomplishments to Craig Sesker at csesker@usawrestling.org
