Bryce Saddoris (Spring Creek, Nev./U.S. Naval Academy) has been named TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week for Oct. 28-Nov. 3.
Each week, TheMat.com will select an Athlete of the Week, based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling, from youth programs through the Senior level.
Saddoris was one of three Navy wrestlers to capture individual titles on Nov. 1 at the Eastern Michigan Open in Ypsilanti, Mich. Pat McCaffrey (125 pounds) and Scott Steele (heavyweight) also won titles for the Midshipmen.
Saddoris put together a 4-0 mark to win the 149-pound class. Ranked 18th by InterMat, Saddoris knocked off No. 7 Jake Patascil of Purdue 4-3 in the semifinals. He followed with a 17-6 win over Eastern Michigan's J.J. Johnson in the finals.
Saddoris, a sophomore, compiled a 35-12 record during his freshman season for Navy. He qualified for the NCAA Championships, where he fell short of placing.
