Jasmine Robinson was the standout among the U.S. women’s freestyle team and secured four technical falls to earn a spot in the 68-kilogram gold-medal match. Robinson gave up a combined two points in her opening two matches and shut out each opponent in her final two showdowns. She scored in the double digits in every match of the opening session and will contend for gold after blanking Chile’s Virginia Jimenez Fernandez in the semifinals.

Katie Gomez (50 kg), Amanda Martinez (57 kg) and Adaugo Nwachukwu (62 kg) join Robinson as gold-medal contenders.

She then claimed a quick pin over Barbados’ Rebecca Williams in the opening 23 seconds in the quarterfinals, followed by a 9-0 technical fall victory over Brazil’s Lais Nunes in the semifinals. Nwachukwu will meet Jimenez Villalba again in the gold-medal matchup.
Everest Leydecker and Precious Wieser each stand 1-0 in their three-woman, round-robin brackets and have their sights set on gold medals of their own.
Leydecker (55 kg) scored a quick technical fall by a 10-0 margin over Canada’s Amber Wiebe and will now square off against Mexico’s Josefina Ramirez Duarte. Wieser pinned Mexico’s Michelle Olea Ruiz in just 43 seconds, setting up a showdown against Canada’s Ellise Daynes.
