2026 Senior Pan American Championships Day Two Match Notes

Adaugo Nwachukwu (USA) at the 2026 Muhamet Malo Ranking Series in Tirana, Albania.
The 2026 Senior Pan American championships continue on Friday at Xtream Arena in Coralville, Iowa, with Greco-Roman group two (72-97 kg) and women’s freestyle group one (50-55-57-62-68-72 kg). Updates and results from each Team USA match are below.
10 a.m. - Qualification rounds
1 p.m. - Semifinals
2 p.m. - Repechage
5 p.m. - Medal matches
Young gains the first passivity advantage and goes on top at 4:34, leading 1-0. He secures two gutwrenches to take a 5-0 lead, with a return to standing position at 3:57. Arias Berdugo attempts to roll through with a front headlock and gets countered to his back by Young. It’s 7-0 in favor of Young heading to the break. Arias Berdugo gets on the board with a step out at 1:25. Young is hit for passivity and goes underneath with 49 seconds remaining, leading 7-2. No points for Arias Berdugo, and we return to standing with 26 to go. Young finishes the match with a 7-2 decision.
A low single attempt from Gomez is countered by with a barrell roll counter from Mollocana Eleno. The sequence is called two points for each wrestler. No further action in the period and we head to the break 2-2, Mollocana Eleno leads on criteria. Early in the second period, Mollocana Eleno is put on the shot clock. Gomez strikes on the low single leg for her first takedown of the match, and the activity time expires on Mollocana Eleno. Gomez leads it 5-2 midway through the second frame. Mollocana Eleno attempts a single leg, which leads to a step out with 16 seconds left. Gomez takes the win, 5-3.
Step out for Leydecker to open the match. Leydecker gets to her single leg and moves right into a leg lace. She converts four laces to end the match in 53 seconds and claim the gold medal with an 11-0 win.
57 kg Gold Medal Match – Amanda Martinez (United States) dec. Luisa Valverde Melendres (Ecuador), 6-1
Martinez drives an underhook off the mat in the first 28 seconds to take the early 1-0 lead. Martinez drives a single leg off the mat with 10 seconds left in the period to go up 2-0. Right back to it, Martinez blasts in on a double leg, but gets countered with an overhook going off the mat to give up a step out point. It’s 2-1 Martinez at the break. Valverde Melendres is put on the shot clock at 2:31. Point to Martinez for a step out, plus the expiring activity time, pushes her lead to 4-1. Martinez counters a shot attempt for a takedown to go up 6-1 in the final minute. The match ends 6-1 in favor of Martinez.
62 kg Gold Medal Match – Adaugo Nwachukwu (United States) dec. Melanie Jimenez Villalba (Mexico), 3-1
A tame first couple of minutes, and Nwachukwu is put on the shot clock at 4:11 in a scoreless match. The shot clock expires, and Jimenez Villalba takes the 1-0 lead. It’s 1-0 Jimenez Villalba at the break. Jimenez Villalba is put on the shot clock early in the second period. Nwachukwu with a go-behind that leads to a step out, plus the activity time expiring, and she takes a 2-1 lead with two minutes to go. Jimenez Villalba picks up the pace in the back half of the match, but Nwachukwu holds her off until the buzzer. The Mexico corner hits the challenge buzzer after the final whistle, likely wanting a fleeing call. The challenge is lost, and an extra point goes on the board for Nwachukwu, who wins it, 3-1.
68 kg Gold Medal Match – Nathali Griman Herrera (Venezuela) dec. Jasmine Robinson (United States), 6-6
Robinson pounces on a double leg, transitions to a single leg, and fights for a backside trip finish going off the mat. Robinson leads 2-0 at the 4:16 mark in the first period. Griman Herrera is put on the shot clock at 3:45. The shot clock expires, point to Robinson. It’s 3-0 Robinson at the break. Griman Herrera comes out with a lateral drop for four points, and is reversed by Robinson into a gutwrench. The score sits at 6-4 for Robinson with 2:16 remaining. Griman Herrera gets in on a high-c, transitions to a double leg lift finish for a takedown. Griman Herrera holds the criteria advantage, 6-6. It’s a fresh start at 1:19 after Robinson gets examined by medical. Robinson is unable to find a point in the final stanza and drops the match on criteria.
Low-level single leg off the whistle for Wieser to go up 2-0 early. Wieser adds a double leg takedown to go up 4-0 with two minutes left in the period. A single leg, backside trip finish going off the mat gives Wieser a 6-0 lead with 30 seconds left in the period. Daynes takes a lengthy injury time. Sweep single leg and a high-gutwrench turn gives Wieser a 10-0 technical fall and the gold medal.
Peak throws a hook by, right into a lift and toss for four. He lifts and launches a second time to end it 8-0 in 32 seconds.
Leydecker goes front headlock, snapdown, go behind, 45 seconds into the match for a takedown. She transitions into a leg lace, scores four turns, and ends it 10-0 in 1:07.
Nwachukwu put on the shot clock first at 4:39 in a scoreless match. Activity time expires, point to Jimenez Villalba. Not much action in the first period. Jimenez Villalba leads it 1-0 at the break. Jimenez Villalba is put on the shot clock at 2:33. Nwachuwku counters a Jimenez Villalba shot with a crotch lift to take the lead, 2-1. The shot clock expires, pushing Nwachukwu’s lead to 3-1. We have a fresh start with 1:30 to go. A good scramble ensues in the final minute, with both wrestlers going out-of-bounds in seatbelt-whizzer position. The officials confer on the score and come back with a point for Nwachukwu, giving her a 4-1 lead with 30 seconds left. Nwachukwu scores on two crotch lifts to end the match, 8-1.
68 kg Round 1 – Jasmine Robinson (United States) tech. fall Eduarda Rodrigues Batista (Brazil), 11-1
Robinson fends off a front headlock in the first minute. A Robinson double-leg attempt is stuffed. Robinson goes on activity time at 4:22 in a scoreless match. A Robinson arm spin lands for two points. She is reversed, point to Rodrigues Batista. The shot clock was nullified during the sequence, and it’s 2-1 Robinson with a fresh start at 3:42. Robinson lands a go-behind directly into a suplex, then ends it with consecutive gutwrenches. It’s a first period, 11-1, technical fall for Robinson.
Blast double leg takedown for Wieser in the first 15 seconds. She spins two leg laces before going off the mat to take a 6-0 lead 24 seconds into the match. Olea Ruiz shoots, Wieser counters to the back and gets the first period pin.
Peak puts Felipe Ordonez’s arm to the mat from a Russian tie, goes around for the takedown. He executes a standing lift with no exposure for a correct throw to extend his lead to 4-0. The Guatemala corner challenges the sequence and gets on the board with a reversal point. It’s 4-1 Peak at the break. Peak put down from passivity at the 2:14 mark, now leading 4-2. No turns from Felipe Ordonez, and we are back standing at 1:45. Peak pummels to the finish for a 4-2 victory.
It’s a double leg off the whistle for Nwachukwu, who takes Williams to her back and gets the fall in 23 seconds.
Snapdown go-behind for Martinez. She leads it 2-0 with a fresh start at 4:42. Martinez throws a hook by from a Ramirez Santana shot attempt, gets the takedown and runs Ramirez Santana to her back, and ultimately gets the fall from an arm bar finish with nine seconds left in the first period.
Robinson is on the board with a single leg takedown at 4:45. Robinson puts a two-on-one to the mat for a second takedown, right into a trapped arm gut to go up 6-0. She gets reversed going off the mat, and it’s called two points for Nickel. The U.S. corner challenges the call and wins. The score is 6-1 Robinson with 21 seconds left in the first period. Robinson secures a double leg, smartly gathers the legs before going off the mat, to increase her lead to 8-1 at the break. Robinson comes out with a double leg, cartwheel finish to end the match 12-1 in the first minute of the second period.
Ambrocio Greifo goes for an arm throw and earns a correct throw call. Young ends up on top for a reversal point. Young gets the first chance on top from passivity at 4:10, now tied, 2-2. Ambrocio Greifo is diving forward and gets called for fleeing the hold. It’s a caution against Ambrocio Greifo and a point to Young. A parterre restart for Young comes through with two gutwrenches. He extends his lead to 7-2 going into the break. The 7-2 score holds throughout the second period.
A nice low single takedown for Gomez to start the match. She gathers a leg lace and adds a couple turns to go up 6-0. We have a fresh start at 4:41. Gomez adds a single leg takedown to go up 8-0. Gomez ends it 10-0 with a leg lace with 28 seconds left in the period.
Two-on-one to the mat for a Robinson takedown early, 2-0. Robinson hits a leg lace going out-of-bounds to take a 4-0 lead at 5:28. Front headlock, go behind with a crotch lift for Robinson makes it 6-0. Robinson goes double leg to a body lock finish, then adds a gutwrench to end it, 10-0.
Rosillo Kindelan gets on top at 4:56 from passivity. A Rosillo Kindelan lift into a crash gutwrench makes it 3-0. Back to standing, and the Cuba corner is challenging that Young was fleeing the hold from bottom. The challenge lost, point to Young. 3-1 at 4:37. Young attempts a headlock and gets countered with a body lock four-pointer to go down 7-1. Rosillo Kindelan hits an arm drag to finish things at the 3:30 mark, 9-1.
Robinson takes a Russian tie to the mat for a takedown to open the match. The Chile corner challenges, looking for a reversal. The challenge is lost, giving Robinson a 3-0 lead. Robinson connects on an outside double leg to a body lock finish for four points. A double leg to a trapped arm gutwrench finishes it for Robinson,11-0, in the first period.
Loyo Jimenez gets in on a single leg, stuffed by Gomez. A single leg connects for Gomez. She circles around for the takedown and transitions into a leg lace. Gomez takes a 4-0 lead with a fresh start at 4:20. We head to the break with Gomez up by four. Arm throw attempt from Loyo Jimenez is countered by Gomez for a score. A high-c takedown gets Loyo Jimenez on the board, now 6-2 in favor of Gomez in the final minute. Gomez battles it out to a 6-2 decision.
Martinez with a takedown from forward pressure right out of the gate. She takes a trapped arm gutwrench over for two more, extending the lead to 4-0 in the first 45 seconds. Martinez is forced out of bounds and gives up a point. Martinez fends off a deep single leg. Another single leg from Rojas Chavez lands this time, right at the end of the period. It’s 4-3 Martinez at the break. Rojas Chavez is back on the attack. Martinez cuts the corner and is awarded two points. Rojas Chavez reverses with exposure to bring the score to 6-5. Another attack from Rojas Chavez, which Martinez counters. Martinez is able to get her hips up as they go off the mat in grounded position. The sequence is called one point for Martinez. The Mexico corner challenges the call and is successful. The point is taken off the board, and we return to center at 1:28, 5-0 Martinez. Martinez finishes a re-attack, double leg to push her lead up to 8-5. Wrestlers are back to standing with 48 seconds left. Martinez ices the match with a go behind from Rojas Chavez’s pressure. It’s a 10-5 final for Martinez.
Nwachukwu earns a step out in the first minute to go up 1-0. Nunes put on the shot clock, it expires, and Nwachukwu gets the point lead 2-0 heading into the period break. Nwachukwu shoots for a single leg, walks it down, to finish from a quad pod position. It’s 4-0 Nwachukwu with 2:24 remaining. Step out point forced from a Nwachukwu single leg. Nwachukwu leads 5-0 with 46 seconds left. Nunes attempts a low level, Nwachukwu counters with a pair of crotch lifts to take the match 9-0.
