2026 Senior Pan American Championships Day One Match Notes

The 2026 Senior Pan American championships kick off on Thursday at Xtream Arena in Coralville, Iowa, with Greco-Roman group one (55-60-63-67-77-82-87-130 kg). Updates and results from each Team USA match can be found below.


10 a.m. - Qualification rounds

1 p.m. - Semifinals

2 p.m. - Repechage


4:15 p.m. - Opening Ceremony

5 p.m. - Medal matches

Schultz gets the first chance on top at 4:38, up 1-0 on the scoreboard. He goes for the front headlock, the official stops the position early and brings the wrestlers to standing. The pummel is even for the rest of the period, and we head to the break, 1-0 Schultz. An arm spin attempt from Schultz is called a slip throw. Schultz hit for passivity at 2:08, and Pino Hinds will go on top. Pino Hinds goes for a gutwrench, Schultz floats his hips and doesn’t expose. Back to standing at 1:33 with Schultz holding criteria, 1-1. Schultz stays in position the remainder of the match to get the 1-1 win.

Melelashvili controls the ties well to gain a passivity point and top position at 4:31. Strong top work from Melelashvili leads to three gutwrench turns. He is caught on his back on the third gutwrench, giving up two points. Melelashvili fights off his back to the standing position and takes a 7-2 lead into the period break. A headlock attempt from Gregorich Hechavarria as we cross the final minute mark will score. The officials disagree on the scoring and call a conference with 42 seconds left. The exchange is called 4-1 for Gregorich Hechavarria, making the match score 8-6 Melelashvili. A pummel to the finish gives Melelashvili his second win over Gregorich Hechavarria on the day.

Bey pressures an underhook forward, resulting in a four-pointer going out of bounds in the first 30 seconds. Bey pressures forward again for a step out to lead 5-0. A flurry on the edge results in a step out for Macias Torres, bringing the score to 5-1 with just over one minute to go in the first period. It’s 5-1 Bey at the break. A vintage body lock, four-pointer for Bey ends it 9-1, 15 seconds into the second period. Bey’s backflip seals the deal.

Passivity called on Adams, point and position to Barrios Rochez at 4:34. Nothing going from Barrios Rochez on top, and we return to standing at 4:11. It stays 1-0 Barrios Rochez at the break. Adams gains top position from passivity at 1:52, tied 1-1. Adams lifts and plants Barrios Rochez on his back for four. He picks Barrios Rochez up a second time and tosses a belly-to-belly over the top to end it, 9-1, at 1:18. Honduras is challenging the action and it results in a five-point move for Adams, rather than a four-pointer, bumping the final score to 10-1.

Step out point to Orta Sanchez early on from a grounded, seatbelt position. Orta Sanchez gets his chance on top from passivity at 4:14, now leading Black, 2-0. A high gutwrench from Orta Sanchez makes it 4-0. Orta Sanchez adds another turn to go up 6-0. He re-adjusts his lock, looking for another. Black fights it off to stay in the match at 3:26, down by six. The U.S. corner challenges the call, looking for a leg foul. Upon review, the leg foul is called on the second Orta Sanchez turn, taking the score down to 4-0, which stands until the break. Black gets his chance on top from passivity at 2:22, now down 4-1. A lift and crash gutwrench for Black closes the gap, 4-3. The wrestlers are back to standing at 1:59. Orta Sanchez drags the ties from Black’s forward pressure, and drives him out of bounds at 1:02, expanding the lead to 5-3. Black pushes hard but can’t land a score in the final moments. Orta Sanchez wins it, 5-3.


Martinez Mateo goes for an arm spin, which Drury counters for a takedown. Drury pushes through three gutwrenches to win the gold medal with a first-period technical fall, 8-0.


Nowry goes on top at 4:33 with the 1-0 from passivity. Marin Mata stands up off the whistle, preventing Nowry from getting to a lock. Nowry forces a step out to take a 2-0 lead at the 4:12 mark. Front headlock pinch for four points, right into a gutwrench sequence ends it for Nowry in the first period, 8-0.

Schultz drives Thompson off the mat for the first point at 5:16. Body lock toss going off the mat for Schultz gives him a 5-0 lead after the first minute. Step out at 4:15 for Schultz, 6-0. And another step out at 4:02, plus fleeing, gives Schultz the 8-0 win.


Melelashvili floats his hips over a headlock attempt and eventually lands on top to take a 2-0 lead. Batista challenges the call, which is reversed into a correct throw for Batista and a reversal for Melelashvili. The score flips to 2-1 for Batista. Melelashvili comes right back with a takedown-to-turn sequence to end right before the period break, 11-2.


Adams on the board first with an arm drag takedown, plus a gutwrench, to lead 4-0 at the 4:47 mark. The 4-0 score holds until the break. Adams gets hit for passivity at 1:47 and is put on bottom, leading 4-1. No turn for Choc Huoc. No more scoring actions take place, and Adams wins it 4-1.


Black gains top position from passivity at 4:42, leading 1-0. Black lands a gutwrench and nearly gets a second, but Soto Garcia goes out-of-bounds before the second turn to get us back standing, 3-0 Black. A drag takedown and a pair of gutwrenches make it 9-0. Peru challenges the call and loses, giving Black the 10-0 win.


After a scoreless first minute, Drury gains top position and a passivity point. Drury lands a gutwrench to go up 3-0. A second gutwrench attempt is called an offensive leg foul, and the wrestlers are brought to standing with Drury up 3-0. Segura Tellez gets his chance on top at 1:55, now trailing Drury, 3-1. Drury stands firm on bottom and keeps the score 3-1. We pummel to the finish and Drury takes it, 3-1.


Nowry gets the first chance on top at 4:41, leading 1-0. A trapped arm turn gives Nowry a 3-0 lead. Nowry attempts a lift on the edge to no points but does get another chance in parterre thanks to a fleeing the mat call against Landim Ribeiro. Nowry finishes the match with an 8-0 score after converting a pair of trapped arm gutwrenches.


Schultz logs three step outs from forward pressure in the ties and adds a fleeing caution point to lead 4-0 early. Back-to-back snapdown, go-behind scores give Schultz an 8-0 victory in just over two minutes.


Point to Roberts at 4:37 from passivity, and he starts on top. No points for Roberts, and we return to neutral at 4:08. Liria Carreras gets the chance on top early in the second period, tied up 1-1. No points for Liria Carreras from top. Liria Carreras gets another chance on top at 1:21, with Roberts still up on criteria, 1-1. A lift from Liria Carreras results in a correct throw, and he takes the lead, 3-1. Roberts has under a minute to work from neutral. Roberts can’t find his offense and falls, 3-1.


Drury goes on top at 4:46, leading 1-0 from the passivity point. Crash gut left side makes it 3-0 for Drury at 4:08. The 3-0 score holds to the break. Drury gets a second chance on top in the second period and goes up 4-0 from the extra passivity point. Lift and launch for Drury, no exposure on the throw. He transitions to a gutwrench going off the mat. The officials confer on how to score the sequence and land on 8-0 Drury, which ends the match. The call is being challenged by Brazil. The challenge is lost, adding a point to Drury’s total at match end.


No scores are logged to the 4:41 mark. Adams goes underneath in parterre, with De Brito Ramos Junior taking the 1-0 lead on a passivity point. Adams holds firm, and we return standing. The score stays 1-0 until the break. Arm drag to the back for Adams right out of the gate in the second period, and he takes a 4-1 lead. An Adams body lock attempt leads to a step out for De Brito Ramos Junior, 4-2. De Brito Ramos Junior is hit for passivity. Adams now leads 5-2 and gets a chance on top with 1:23 remaining. Straight lift and toss for Adams with no exposure. Could have been a correct throw, but no points were awarded. Adams cruises to the finish, 5-2.


Melelashvili gets first chance on top at 4:35, leading 1-0. Melelashvili goes gutwrench, four-point lift, and back to the gutwrench, ending the match in two minutes, 9-0.


Black counters and arm throw attempts, and adds a pair of turns, putting the American up 6-0 at 5:08. Pummeling with no scores takes us to the break with Black on top 6-0. Arm drag takedown for Black ends it 8-0 with 1:40 left in the match.


Peralta Gonzalez gets the first chance on top. Nowry counters a lift attempt and locks up four consecutive gutwrenches to take the match 10-1 in just under two minutes.


Melelashvili gets the first chance on top at 4:42, leading 1-0 from passivity. Melelashvili goes for a lift and roll, but it doesn’t land, and we end up standing. Gregorich Hechavarria is close to converting an arm drag, Melelashvili counters out of it. It’s 1-0 at the break. Cuba gets to go on top at 2:23, 1-1 score. Melelashvili holds off the gutwrench attempt. We return to the feet at 2:06 with Melelashvili leading 1-1 on criteria. Melelashvili gets another chance on top, 1-1, at 1:22. Melelashvili throws a hook by from a Gregorich Hechavarria arm drag attack and scores the takedown to go up 3-1. Cuba challenges the call for a slip throw. The challenge is successful, bringing the score to 1-1 with 44 seconds left. Melelashvili takes the match on criteria, 1-1.


Blood time for Drury 50 seconds into the match, scoreless. Fittingly, Drury gets a Gable wrap in the first U.S. match of the tournament. Arm throw for Drury lands for two. He is reversed on the exchange, making the score 2-1 halfway through the first period. Drury goes arm drag to. a step out right before the period break to take a 3-1 lead. Drury opens the second by driving an underhook out of bounds at 2:34. Drury drives a two-on-one off the mat at 1:42 to go up 5-1. Another step out point for Drury, plus caution and one for fleeing, makes it 7-1 at 1:02. Takedown for Peralta Gonzalez, who goes for a reverse lift. No points for Peralta Gonzalez from top leaves the score 7-3. With 15 seconds left, Drury drives Peralta Gonzalez off the mat again. Ecuador hit with another caution and one. Drury takes the match, 9-3.
