Pennsylvania Blue Captures Men’s Freestyle Championship at 2026 Junior National Duals

Pennsylvania Blue after winning the 2026 USA Wrestling Junior Men's Freestyle National Duals championship in Milwaukee, Wisconsin
MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin – Pennsylvania Blue fought through the Gold/Silver Bracket and picked up three more victories on Saturday to claim the men’s freestyle title to close out the 2026 USA Wrestling Junior National Duals at the Baird Center.
Going up against unbeaten Indiana Gold for the championship, Pennsylvania Blue got off to a fast start, winning five of the six bouts. Carter Chunko started the dual in an offensive slugfest, earning a 23-20 decision.
Indiana Gold won back-to-back matches only once, with Michael White and Cesar Salas notching the second and third wins.
Following the two wins from Indiana Gold, Pennsylvania Blue got back in the win column with four-straight wins, highlighted by three-straight tech falls from Leonidas Murillo, Nathan Schuman and Arav Pandey to put the match away.
After trading results over the final three bouts, Pennsylvania Blue secured the national title by a final score of 39-23.
Entering the Gold/Silver Bracket as the Pool B runner-up in preliminary action, Pennsylvania Blue battled through the pool portion of the bracket. It had a trio of single-digit wins over Ohio Scarlet (32-30), Illinois (37-29), and Oklahoma Blue (37-30).
Murillo, Schuman, Pandey and Chunko led the way for Pennsylvania Blue with each going unbeaten in freestyle competition with at least five victories to earn All-Tournament Team honors.
In the final placement duals in the Gold/Silver Bracket, Illinois won the final three matches to upend Wisconsin Red, 34-30, to finish third. Ohio Scarlet beat Minnesota Blue in the fifth-place match, 43-25, and Iowa rolled to a 50-15 win over Oklahoma Blue to finish seventh.
38 additional teams battled in the Bronze/Copper, Blue/Red, Green/Yellow, Purple and Teal Brackets. Final placements for every color pool are listed below.
