Illinois after winning the 2026 USA Wrestling Junior Greco-Roman National Duals championship in Milwaukee, Wisconsin

MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin – Illinois won all seven of its duals over the past two days to win the Greco-Roman championship at the 2026 USA Wrestling Junior National Duals on Thursday afternoon at the Baird Center.


Over its four matches in the Gold/Silver Bracket, Illinois scored over 45 points in each dual, highlighted by a 52-11 victory over Pennsylvania in the championship dual. In the first-place contest, Illinois notched 13 wins over the 15 bouts with 10 bonus victories.


Michael Rundell’s 12-0 technical fall in 51 seconds helped pace Illinois to the championship. Of the eight tech fall for Illinois, seven were shutouts.


En route to the title, Illinois had two wrestlers earn All-Tournament Team accolades: Symon Woods and Jaxon Penovich, both posting 7-0 marks in Greco-Roman competition.


In the remainder of the placement matches in the Gold/Silver Bracket, Oklahoma Blue scored a 40-29 win against Colorado to finish third. Washington notched a last match technical fall to upend Ohio Scarlet, 34-32, and claimed fifth. For seventh place, Utah took down Minnesota Blue in a 39-24 contest.


30 additional teams battled in the Bronze/Copper, Blue/Red, Green/Yellow and Purple Brackets. Final placements for every color pool are listed below.
