Bommarito, Ferriter, Cardenas lead six-athlete U.S. team at Beach World Series Batumi in Georgia, June 20-21

The U.S. will send a delegation of six wrestlers, four men and one woman, to compete in the Beach World Series Batumi at the Batumi Beach Arena Sectors 15-16 in the Batumi Seaside Park in Batumi, Georgia, June 20-21. This is the third stop of the five-event Senior Beach World Series for 2026.

Three-time World champion Eliana Bommarito of Michigan will be competing in Batumi in the Over 70 kg division. She scored the most points in the Beach World Series standings at her weight class each of the last three seasons.

During the last four seasons, Bommarito has won nine gold medals at individual Beach World Series events, one in 2026, two in 2025, four in 2024 and two in 2023. She has also won two age-group Beach World Championships medals, a U20 World gold in 2023 and a U20 World silver in 2024.

This will be her second Beach World Series event of the 2026 season. Bommarito won a gold medal at Beach World Series Porec in Croatia earlier this season. She is currently ranked No. 1 in the 2026 Beach World Series standings at Women’s Over 70 kg with 60,000 points, ahead of No. 2 Stefania Zacheila of Greece with 54,200 points.

Two men’s Beach wrestlers who have won an individual Beach World Series medal will compete in Batumi, Daniel Cardenas of Colorado at 70 kg and Kyle Ferriter of Colorado at Over 90 kg.

Cardenas won a bronze medal at the 2024 Beach World Series Timisoara in Romania at 80 kg. 

Ferriter won an individual bronze medal at the 2024 Beach World Series Saint Laurent du Var in France. Ferriter also placed third in the Beach World Series standings in 2024, based upon points scored during that season.

Rodrick Love of Illinois will compete in the men’s 80 kg weight class. Love was fourth in Beach World Series Porec in 2025 and was also seventh in Beach World Series Monterrey last year.

Also competing for the U.S. team are Terrance Zaleski of South Carolina and Abraham Wojcikiewicz of Illinois at the men’s 90 kg weight class.

Zaleski won the title at the 2026 Carolina Beach Nationals in early May. Zaleski, who was a successful Greco-Roman wrestler for the Marine Corps, also placed second in the 2023 U.S. Beach Nationals.

There will be two rounds of group competition on Saturday, at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Sunday morning will feature the final group competition at 10 a.m., with the elimination rounds and finals in the 7 p.m. session.

Beach World Series Batumi will be broadcast live by FloWrestling. Batumi is eight hours ahead of U.S. Eastern time zone.

The first two stops of the Beach World Series this year were in Da Nang, Vietnam, and Porec, Croatia. After Batumi, the final two stops on the 2026 Beach World Series will be in Baku, Azerbaijan (August 28-29) and the Beach World Series Final in Katerini, Greece (September 26-27).
