Stanford wrestlers win three medals at the Sardinia Beach Wrestling Championships in Italy on June 14

STINTINO, Italy – Three student-athlete wrestlers from Stanford University claimed medals at one of the most prestigious Beach Wrestling events in Europe, the Sardinia Beach Wrestling Championships on La Pelosa Beach in Stintino, Italy, Sunday, June 14.

Cole Han-Lindemyer claimed a gold medal at 90 kg, Adam Mattin captured silver at 70 kg, and Collin Guffey won a bronze medal at 80 kg.

Han-Lindemyer scored a 3-0 victory over Ricardo Brogna of Italy, 3-0, in 2:28, to claim the gold medal.

Guffey defeated Miljan Rajic of Serbia, 4-1 in 1:38 to secure the silver medal. His only loss was 4-0 to Jacobo Masotti of Italy.

Mattin had the busiest day, going 4-2 in his six matches at 70 kg to earn the bronze medal. All four of the opponents that Mattin defeated in the event were from Italy.

While these athletes just earned their first international Beach Wrestling achievements, all are distinguished wrestlers in folkstyle and the Olympic styles.

Han-Lindemyer was a 2022 U17 Pan American champion and was a 2022 U17 Nationals champion in Greco-Roman. Guffey was eighth at the 2023 Junior Nationals in freestyle. Mattin was a three-time Ohio state high school champion.

Stanford has been very active in providing Beach Wrestling opportunities for their athletes.
