United States Marine Corps conducts visit to USA Wrestling headquarters to further partnership

Since 2017, USA Wrestling and the United States Marine Corps have partnered to collaboratively demonstrate the discipline, mental fortitude and resilience that define both organizations. As the partnership approaches its 10-year milestone, the connection between USA Wrestling and the U.S. Marine Corps remains as strong as ever.

USA Wrestling is proud to continue its collaboration with the U.S. Marine Corps, showcasing a relationship built on mutual respect and shared values. Both organizations emphasize commitment, leadership and the pursuit of excellence – principles that continue to drive the success and longevity of the partnership.

In May, representatives from the U.S. Marine Corps completed a formal visit to the USA Wrestling national office in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The visit marked the first official on-site engagement by the U.S. Marine Corps since the beginning of the current partnership. Greg Gilliam, Community Engagement & National Partnerships Director for the Marine Corps Recruiting Command, Major Chelsea Lucas and Master Gunnery Sergeant Joseph Ohoro were welcomed by USA Wrestling’s national staff and guided through the organization’s headquarters.

During the visit, the U.S. Marine Corps delegation met with staff members across multiple departments, gaining insight into the daily operations that support athletes at all levels of the sport. These conversations strengthened communication between the two organizations while reinforcing a shared commitment to developing future leaders – both on the mat and beyond.

Over the past nine years, the U.S. Marine Corps has served as the title sponsor for USA Wrestling’s premier age-group event, the 16U and Junior Nationals in Fargo, N.D. The 2026 event is scheduled for June 9-18 and will once again bring together thousands of the nation’s top young wrestlers. Through its presence at Fargo and other USA Wrestling initiatives, the U.S. Marine Corps has built meaningful relationships with athletes, coaches and families, while showcasing the extensive opportunities available through military service.

The partnership has proven mutually beneficial, providing USA Wrestling with continued support for athlete development while allowing the U.S. Marine Corps to connect with a highly motivated and disciplined community. As both organizations look toward the future, their shared values and aligned missions ensure the partnership will continue to thrive for years to come.
