Four Stanford wrestlers to compete in the Sardinia Beach Wrestling Championships in Italy on June 14

Four student-athlete wrestlers from Stanford University will compete in one of the most prestigious Beach Wrestling events in Europe, the Sardinia Beach Wrestling Championships on La Pelosa Beach in Stintino, Italy, on Sunday, June 14. This is the first time a group of American wrestlers will participate in this respected competition.

Each of the athletes will enter a different weight class, with Adam Mattin at 70 kg, Collin Guffey at 80 kg, Cole Han-Lindemyer at 90 kg and Angelo Posada at Over 90 kg. Although these wrestlers have yet to establish any international Beach Wrestling achievements, all are distinguished wrestlers in folkstyle and the Olympic styles.

Posada placed fifth in the 2026 NCAA Div. I Championships at 197 pounds for Stanford. He was a 2024 Junior Nationals freestyle champion and third in Greco-Roman. He was an All-American in Fargo five times during his youth.

Han-Lindemyer was a 2022 U17 Pan American champion and was a 2022 U17 Nationals champion in Greco-Roman. Guffey was eighth at the 2023 Junior Nationals in freestyle.

Stanford has been very active in providing Beach Wrestling opportunities for their athletes.
