2026 NWHOF Meritorious Official: Zach Errett

Zach Errett has dedicated more than three decades to wrestling as an internationally respected official, educator, coach, and mentor.

Errett officiated at the 2012 London Olympics and the 2016 Rio Olympics and worked the Senior World Championships and U.S. Olympic Trials from 2002 to 2022. A USA Wrestling Officials Association referee for more than 30 years and a United World Wrestling referee for more than 20 years, he became a leader in officiating education and development.

As a UWW referee instructor and member of the referee commission, Errett helped create the “Referee Education Pathway” and the Referee Scholarship Program. Since 2018, he has served as UWW Education Manager, developing training programs for referees and coaches around the world.

Errett has received many honors for his work in officiating. In 2010, he earned the Golden Whistle from FILA/UWW and was named USA Wrestling Officials Association Official of the Year. He also received the Mort Geller Award and the Phil Portuese Award for leadership in officiating education. The Glen Blackman Award was later renamed the Zach Errett Award in his honor.

Beyond officiating, Errett has also made an impact as a coach and educator in Indiana. He coached wrestling and taught science at Mooresville High School from 2002 to 2013 and later coached at Avon High School, where his team finished as state runner-up in 2019.

Errett served on the USA Wrestling Officials Association Executive Board from 2013 to 2023 and continues to work in education as a science teacher at South Putnam High School.

A successful wrestler himself, Errett competed for his father, David Errett, who was honored as a Meritorious Official by the Hall of Fame in 2019, at Martinsville High School and finished with a 104-25 career record.

For his outstanding leadership and service to wrestling, the National Wrestling Hall of Fame proudly honors Zach Errett as the 2026 Meritorious Official.
