U.S. Opens 2026 U15 Pan American Championships With Eight Golds, Men’s Freestyle Team Title

The U.S. men’s freestyle team after the 2026 U15 Pan American Championships in Mexico City, Mexico.
MEXICO CITY – Team USA kicked off the 2026 U15 Pan American Championships with an eight-champion effort and a team title in men’s freestyle on Thursday at the Mexican Olympic Committee Sports Complex.
Securing gold medals for the U.S. were Matthew Campos of California at 38 kg, Jace Rooney of New York at 41 kg, Maurice Worthy of New Jersey at 48 kg, Jarron Beltran of Arizona at 57 kg, Tristyn Ulloa of Texas at 62 kg, Xander Fronhofer of California at 68 kg, Julian Smith of New Jersey at 75 kg and Spencer Davern of Ohio at 85 kg.
Rooney pinned his way through the tournament, with his longest bout coming in the finals, a 52-second fall against Alexander Salazar Gregorio of Guatemala.
Four others—Campos, Worthy, Beltran and Smith—also won gold medals with bonus-point victories in every match wrestled. Campos and Beltran did not surrender a single match point to the opposition.
Silver medal winners for the U.S. included Cade Ruckle of Nevada at 44 kg and Walker Martin of Pennsylvania at 52 kg, pushing the U.S. to a 10-for-10 medal haul on day one of the event.
All told, the U.S. men tallied up a 33-3 combined record with four pins and 25 technical falls.
Team USA outpaced the field in the team standings with a near-perfect 240 points. Mexico finished in second place with 148 points. Brazil rounded out the top three with 96 points.
This same group of 10 athletes will compete in the Greco-Roman competition held on Saturday.
Wrestling continues at 10 a.m. local time on Friday with the women’s freestyle competition. Mexico City is one hour behind U.S. Eastern Time.
