Nutter enters Greco-Roman repechage at U20 World Championships

BRATISLAVA, Slovakia – Greco-Roman group two athlete Amryn Nutter was pulled into repechage following the Monday evening semifinal round at the 2026 U20 World Championships.

Nutter was defeated in the round-of-16 by eventual finalist Kazybek Kalmagambetov of Kazakhstan in a 1-1 criteria contest. Both men earned a passivity point and a chance on top: Kalmagambetov in the first period, Nutter in the second period. In a 1-1 match with no technical points scored, the criteria is awarded to the athlete who earned the first point.

After Kalmagambetov successfully navigated to the 67 kg gold medal match, Nutter found new life in the bracket. He needs two wins tomorrow morning to qualify for the bronze medal round, starting with Sebastian Wagner of Germany.

The remaining Greco-Roman group two athletes—Ezekiel Witt at 55 kg, Eli Esguerra at 72 kg and Cittadino Tuttle at 97 kg—weren’t as fortunate in their repechage fates. All three were eliminated from medal contention on Monday.

The action continues from A4 Studio at 6 p.m. local time with the Greco-Roman group one medal matches at 6 p.m. American Aidan Squier will compete for 87 kg bronze. Bratislava, Slovakia, is six hours ahead of U.S. Eastern Time.
