Isla Silva (Pittsburgh, Pa./Team Pennsylvania) has been named USA Wrestling Athlete of the Week.


Silva finished as a double champion at the 2026 USA Wrestling Women’s Nationals. Silva won the 50 kg U15 and 49 kg U17 divisions. Silva has qualified to represent Team USA at the U15 Pan American Championships and the U17 World Championships.


Starting the weekend in U15, Silva went 5-0 and edged Bella Manno on criteria, 4-4, in the championship bout. Before the finals, Silva shutout three of her first four opponents and notched a pair of technical falls.


Moving into U17 action, Silva collected three of her first four wins by technical fall, putting her in the best-of-three series with a spot on the U17 World team on the line. Silva faced Manno once again. Silva won the first two contests to sweep the series, 5-1 and 8-4.


Silva returns to international competition for the U.S. after winning gold at the 2024 U15 Pan American Championships in San Salvador, El Salvador.


The 2026 U15 Pan American Championships are scheduled July 23-25 in Mexico City, Mexico. Baku, Azerbaijan, will host the 2026 U17 World Championships July 27-August 2.
