Eight claim Greco-Roman titles in UWW Futures division at U.S. Open Championships

LAS VEGAS – Eight champions were decided in the UWW Futures Greco-Roman division on Wednesday evening at the 2024 Pritchard Companies U.S. Open Championships held at South Point Arena.
Earning top prize in the eight weight divisions were Bennett Dawson of Team Tulsa WC at 28 kg, Mason Betterman of Betterman Elite Wrestling at 31 kg, Elliott Harris of Elevate WC at 33kg , Colton Bryce of Legacy Dragons Wrestling at 35 kg, Antonio Aguilar of Red Wave Wrestling at 38 kg, Devin Garcia of Suples WC at 41 kg, Jameson Williams of Gold Rush Wrestling at 45 kg and William Theofanopoulos of Legends of Gold Las Vegas at 51 kg.
Harris was the only boy to earn a bonus point win in the championship match. He picked up an 8-0 technical fall in 1:48 against Austin Garcia of Suples WC in the 33 kg finals.
Bryce, Garcia, Williams and Theofanopoulos each won a round robin style bracket while the other four weight classes wrestled a true straight-line bracket to the finish.
The U.S. Open Championships continue Thursday with the U17 Greco-Roman World Team Trials, plus freestyle action in the 15U, Masters and Futures divisions. U17 and U15 athletes kick things off at 10 a.m. (PT) tomorrow.
