USA Wrestling announces the 2001 Winter Tours lineups for freestyle



USA Wrestling has announced tentative lineups for the 2001 Winter Tours for freestyle. The freestyle tours start in Tehran, Iran with the Takhti Cup, Feb. 21-23. Leading that lineup is 1999 World Champion Stephen Neal (Bakersfield, Calif./Dave Schultz WC) at 286 pounds. 1999 World Team member Joe Williams (Iowa City, Iowa/Hawkeye WC) will wrestle at 167.5 pounds. Then it is on to the Kiev Open in Kiev, Ukraine, Feb. 23-24. 2000 Olympian Charles Burton (Bloomington, Ind./NYAC) will compete at 187.25 pounds. Burton finished fifth at the 2000 Olympics. The freestyle tour schedule will conclude with the Yasar Dogu Tournament in Ankara, Turkey, March 2-3 and the Poland Open in Wroclaw, Poland, March 8-10. Among those projected to compete are 2000 Olympic silver medalist Sammie Henson (Norman, Okla./Sunkist Kids) at 119 pounds, and 2000 U.S. National Team Members Kerry Boumans (Colorado Springs, Colo./Dave Schultz WC), Eric Guerrero (Stillwater, Okla./Sunkist Kids) at 127.75 pounds, Ramico Blackman (Colorado Springs, Colo./Team Excel) at 152 pounds and Rex Holman (Colorado Springs, Colo./U.S. Army) at 213.75 pounds.
