Kehler Named EWL Wrestler Of The Week

Morgantown, W.Va. West Virginia University heavyweight wrestler Ryan Kehler has been named the Eastern Wrestling League's wrestler of the week for his efforts in winning the Navy Classic last weekend. The junior from Klingerstown, Pa., rolled through the heavyweight bracket at Navy en route to his second championship in three years. Kehler, seeded second in the bracket, defeated Purdue's Israel Blevins 10-1 in quarterfinal action after receiving a bye. In semi-final round action, Kehler pinned James Madison's D.J. Hockman in 32 seconds. In the finals, Kehler pinned No. 16 Jake Vercelli of Purdue at 6:43 of sudden death. He now owns a 7-0 record on the year with four of those victories coming by way of a fall. For his efforts at the Navy Classic, Kehler was also named West Virginia University's athlete of the week.
