Arizone State To Hold Intrasquad Meet

TEMPE, Ariz. The Arizona State wrestling team will host an intrasquad meet Wednesday, Nov. 15 at 8 p.m. at Wells Fargo Arena, giving fans a sneak peak of the 2001 Sun Devils, including returning All-Americans Steve Blackford and Eric Larkin. ASU opened the 2000-01 season at the Cal State Fullerton Open Sunday, Nov. 12, with a total of 12 Sun Devils earning places. Wrestling unattached, freshman Mike Simpson (125 pounds) and Nick Frost (165 pounds) captured runner-up finishes, while junior transfer Dana Holland (149 pounds) also captured a second-place finish wrestling for ASU. Following Wednesday night's intrasquad meet, the Sun Devils will host the second-annual Desert Duals at Wells Fargo Arena, Friday, Nov. 24. The ASU wrestling intrasquad meet will feature approximately 10 matches with the following probable lineups: 125 pounds: Adam Chavira vs. Mike Simpson Jeff Charlebois vs. Chris Knox 133 pounds: Dan Hyman vs. David Douglas 141 pounds: Eric Larkin vs. Danny Alcocer, Jr. 149 pounds: Frankie Saenz vs. Dana Holland 165 pounds: Steve Blackford vs. Nick Frost 174 pounds: Curtis Owen vs. Ron Renzi 184 pounds: R.D. Pursell vs. Mike Marshall 197 pounds: Andy Swanson vs. Scott Hollingsworth HWT: Hector Torres vs. Kellan Fluckiger
