USAW Requires Coaches To Be NCEP Copper Certified For Regional & National Events

In order to obtain a coach's floor pass or FREE ADMISSION at USA Wrestling Regional and National events, you must have completed at a minimum, the National Coaches Education Program (NCEP) Copper level and be a current "USAW Coach" member. USAW has a goal to possess the most powerful and comprehensive wrestling program in the world. In order for this to be attained, we must have the World's best educated coaches to develop our athletes. This can only be achieved by one method: the continued improvement and development of our coaches at every level, through the implementation of an educational program that is second to none. The USAW NCEP is comprised of 4 levels of certification for coaches, parents and fans to participate in. These are Copper, Bronze, Silver and Gold. The Copper level is a basic introduction to the principles of coaching and wrestling techniques. The course consists of 3 hours of classroom and 1 hour of wrestling technique instruction. There will be Copper level clinics at most USAW Regional and National level events, however there are many opportunities to obtain certification prior to the events. For more information, contact your state chairperson or USAW NCEP Coordinator Ted Witulski at (719) 598-8181. Don't miss out, get certified early!
