Quotes from U.S. athletes, head coach after Greco-Roman weigh-in on September 23

U.S. ATHLETE AND COACH QUOTES AFTER FIRST WEIGH-IN FOR GRECO-ROMAN WRESTLING 54 KG - Steven Mays, Pensacola, Fla. "I have an opportunity to do some damage. It's not a bad draw. I've beaten the guy from Kyrgyzstan. I just have to do my matches and I'll win. It doesn't matter who I draw. It's always good to have this kind of opportunity." 63 KG - Kevin Bracken, Chicago, Ill. "I've never wrestled Italy before, but he's been a some training camps. I wrestled the Korean in a tight match at the Korean duals. I feel it is a great draw, and I plan on winning my first two matches." 76 KG - Matt Lindland, Lincoln, Neb. "Algeria is a great matchup for me. Uzbekistan, I am looking forward to battling him. He ducked me at the last tournament we were in. Georgia is good, but I've beaten him before. It looks like a good draw to me." 97 KG - Garrett Lowney, Appleton, Wis. "I get a match in before I wrestle the Russian. He's going in dry. I've gotten to work out with him before. He's beatable." HEAD COACH - Dan Chandler, Minneapolis, Minn. "We knew we had to pull off some upsets to perform well. We are going to have to get some upsets in during the pools. We have a few guys who have their gold medal bout in the early matches. "Mays got a tough draw. The Ukrainian won a bronze in Atlanta. I think Steve wrestled Kyrgyzstan at the 1999 Worlds in Athens. Bracken has a bronze medalist in his pool. Lindland's got Georgia, Uzbekistan and Algeria in his pool. For Lowney, the Czech was a World silver medalist in 1998. He has the five-time World Champion from Russia, also. We knew there wouldn't be easy draws. We have our work cut out for us."
