THE 2000 U.S. OLYMPIC WRESTLING TEAM MEMBERS NAMED AS THEMAT.COM WRESTLERS OF THE WEEK OF JUNE 19-25 TheMat.com has named its National Wrestlers of the Week for June 19-25. The winner of TheMat.com International Wrestlers of the Week are the members of the 2000 U.S. Olympic Wrestling Team. TheMat.com will announce Wrestlers of the Week in a number of age group levels, which will be posted on the web page and promoted to the national media. International Wrestlers of the Week: The members of the 2000 U.S. Olympic Wrestling Team TheMat.com recognizes that qualifying for the U.S. Olympic Team in wrestling is such an amazing achievement, that no one athlete's performance in making the team can be considered more deserving of recognition than the others. With that in mind, TheMat.com names all the Olympic Team qualifiers from the 2000 U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Wrestling in Dallas, Texas, June 22-24, as the Wrestlers of the Week. That includes Greco-Roman wrestlers: * Steven Mays (Pensacola, Fla./U.S. Navy) at 119 pounds * Jim Gruenwald (Colorado Springs, Colo./Sunkist Kids) at 127.75 pounds * Kevin Bracken (Colorado Springs, Colo./New York AC) at 138.75 pounds * Heath Sims (Huntington Beach, Calif./Dave Schultz WC) at 152 pounds * Keith Sieracki (Colorado Springs, Colo./U.S. Army) at 167.5 pounds * Quincey Clark (New Brighton, Minn./Minnesota Storm) at 187.25 pounds * Garrett Lowney (Appleton, Wis./Minnesota Storm) at 220 pounds * Rulon Gardner (Colorado Springs, Colo./Sunkist Kids) at 286 pounds Also included are freestyle wrestlers: * Sammie Henson (Norman, Okla./Sunkist Kids) at 119 pounds * Terry Brands (Iowa City, Iowa/Hawkeye) at 127.75 pounds * Cary Kolat (Morgantown, W.Va./Dave Schultz WC) at 138.75 pounds * Lincoln McIlravy (Iowa City, Iowa/Gateway WC) at 152 pounds * Brandon Slay (Colorado Springs, Colo./Dave Schultz WC) at 167.5 pounds * Melvin Douglas (Mesa, Ariz./Sunkist Kids) at 213.75 pounds * Kerry McCoy (State College, Pa./New York AC) at 286 pounds Note: No freestyle team member was determined at 187.25 pounds in Dallas, as a Special Wrestle-off will be held between Trials winner Charles Burton (Bloomington, Ind./New York AC) and 2000 U.S. Nationals champion Les Gutches (Colorado Springs, Colo./Sunkist Kids) at a time and date to be determined, as Gutches received an extension due to injury.
