Russia lineup set for two freestyle duals in New York on November 16 and 17



NEW YORK, October 29, 2013 – The Russian lineups have been announced for the USA vs. Russia duals to be held in New York on November 16 and November 17.

The two traditional wrestling powers will first compete in Clifton Park, N.Y. at Shenendahowa High School on Saturday, Nov. 16, followed by a second dual on the campus of Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y. on Sunday, Nov. 17.

The USA vs. Russia duals will take place on the heels of the NYAC International to be held in New York City on Nov. 8-9 and a freestyle team training camp in Lake Placid, New York.

The Russians are bringing a team of young, but experienced competitors to challenge Team USA.

Leading the charge for the Russians will be 60 kg/132 lbs. competitor Aleksandr Bogomoev. The 23 year-old Bogomoev has won gold medals at the Buryatia Republic President’s Cup, Moscow Lights, Ramzan Kadirov International, Dmitry Korkin International, Olympia Tournament and Yasar Dogu International. He has also finished in second place twice at the prestigious Ivan Yarygin Memorial Grand Prix.

Omak Syuryun will represent Russia at 55 kg/121 lbs. Syuryun won the 2013 Olympia Tournament and both the Henri Deglane Challenge and Vladimir Semenov International in 2012.

The Russian representative at 120 kg/264.5 lbs. will be 2013 Olympia Tournament Champion Aleksandr Kusraev. He finished fifth at the 2013 Russian Nationals.

Russia will send two wrestlers at 96 kg/211.5 lbs., Batradz Gazzaev and Georgii Gogaev.

Gazzaev finished in third at both the Ziolkowski International and Russian Nationals in 2013.

Gogaev was a 2012 Cadet World Champion and finished in fifth place at the 2013 Junior World Championships.

Rounding out the Russian lineup will be Alibeggadzhi Emeev at 66 kg/145.5 lbs., Boris Makoev at 74 kg/163 lbs. and Vladislav Gabaraev at 84 kg/185 lbs.

The Clifton Park dual on Saturday is set to begin at 3:15 p.m. Eastern time following a youth clinic featuring members of the Penn State University coaching staff. Ticket prices are $50 to attend both the clinic and the dual and $20 to attend the dual only. For more information and to order tickets, please visit journeymenwrestling.com.

The Ithaca dual on Sunday starts at 1:00 p.m. Eastern time. Prior to the dual, two-time World Champion and Olympic Champion Jordan Burroughs will be hosting a meet and greet, and there will also be a free clinic, starting at 10:00 a.m. Tickets are $10 for general admission and $15 for chair back seating. The lineups for the United States are currently being finalized and will be announced in the upcoming days. There will also be additional international exhibition bouts at both events which will be announced in the near future.
