Weekly NCAA Division I, II and III wrestling award standings released

INDIANAPOLIS – The NCAA has released standings for the 2013 NCAA Most Dominant Wrestler Award and most falls and tech falls in Divisions I, II and III.

A minimum of 18 matches are required to be eligible for the Most Dominant Wrestler standings. For match results to be counted toward any of the award standings they must come against opponents within the same division.

For the seventh week in a row, Ohio State’s Logan Stieber leads the Most Dominant Wrestler standings, with a 5.4444 points average. At 133 pounds, Stieber holds a substantial lead in Division I over Dustin Kilgore of Kent State, who is in second place with a 5.1143 average.

In Division II, Pittsburgh-Johnstown’s Travis McKillop leads for the third straight week with a 4.52 points average at 184 pounds. Shamus O’Grady of St. Cloud State is on his heels with a 4.4074 average.

Nazar Kulchytskyy of Wisconsin-Oshkosh remains Division III’s most dominant leader for the fifth consecutive week. The 165-pounder averages 5.4 points and holds the second-best cross-divisional mark.

In the Division I falls category, Kent State’s Dustin Kilgore has garnered the most pins with a total of 17 in 43:23. The 197-pounder is trailed by Cornell’s Kyle Dake (165 pounds) who has tallied 16.

Newberry’s Jeffrey Vesta tops the Division II falls standings with a total of 14 in the 125-pound weight class.

In Division III, Kulchytskyy and Nick Scotto of Wesleyan (CT) each own 21 pins, but Kulchytskyy has the edge after compiling them in a cumulative time of 43:17 compared to Scotto’s 54:15.

Central Michigan’s Ben Bennett surpassed David Taylor of Penn State as the Division I tech falls leader last week and remains in that position. Bennett has posted nine technical falls at 184 pounds.

Dylan D’Urso of Mercyhurst leads Division II tech falls for the seventh consecutive week, posting a total of seven falls in 30:27. D’Urso is trailed by fellow 133-pounder Casy Rowell of Central Oklahoma who has compiled five technical falls this season.

For the eighth consecutive week, Kyle Kwiat of Ohio Northern is the cross-divisional leader with a staggering 16 tech falls--seven more than any other wrestler. In Division III, the 174-pounder is trailed by Elisha Gaylor (Ursinus) with nine.
