Sunkist Kids beat Korea, 29-13, in freestyle dual in Tempe, Ariz., May 27



SUNKIST KIDS DEFEAT KOREA, 29-13, IN FREESTYLE DUAL MEET IN TEMPE, ARIZ., MAY 27

A team from the Sunkist Kids Wrestling Club, featuring many current or former members of the Arizona State wrestling team, defeated the Korean University wrestling team, 29-13, in a dual meet at the Wells Fargo Arena at Arizona State Univ. in Tempe, Ariz., Saturday, May 27.

Korea opened with victories in the first two weight classes, but the Sunkist Kids swept the final eight matches.

Quinn Foster scored a pin over Hong Kyung-Rea, in 18 seconds at 156.2 pounds. Winning by technical fall were Eric Larkin at 140.8 pounds and Aaron Simpson at 184 pounds.

Both Larkin and Simpson have qualified to compete at the U.S. Olympic Wrestling Team Trials in Dallas, Texas, June 22-24.

Other winners for the Sunkist Kids were Evan Larkin (134.2 lbs.), Steve Blackford (165 lbs.), R.D. Pursell (173.8 lbs.), and Kellan Fluckinger (281 lbs.).

The Korean team competed in dual meets against the Big 12 All-Stars, and also against a team of Oklahoma college stars earlier in the week.
