Marina Doi named Wrestler of the Week for Aug. 9-15

Marina Doi (Kingsburg, Calif./Team California) has been named Wrestler of the Week for Aug. 9-15.

Each week, will select an Athlete of the Week, based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling, from youth programs through the Senior level.

Doi turned in an excellent week of training while continuing preparations for this month’s FILA Cadet World Championships in women’s freestyle wrestling.

Doi has had a busy summer. She won a Cadet Nationals title last month in Fargo and followed that up by winning a gold medal at 40 kg at the Pan American Cadet Championships on Aug. 7 in Campeche, Mexico.

Doi and her twin sister, Regina, both won FILA Cadet Nationals and Cadet Nationals titles this year. They will both compete for the U.S. at the FILA Cadet World Championships in Szombethely, Hungary, on Aug. 25-28
