Listen to the MatChat Podcast with Anthony Robles

Anthony Robles (Mesa, Arizona/Arizona State University) has been named TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week for December 14-20.

Each week, TheMat.com will select an Athlete of the Week, based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling, from youth programs through the Senior level.

Robles outscored his opponents 71-3 en route to winning the Reno Tournament of Champions title at 125 pounds on Sunday in Reno, Nevada.

The Arizona State senior is 14-0 this season. He’s won nine matches by technical fall, two by fall and one by major decision. He is ranked No. 3 nationally.

Robles won his 100th career match after beating North Dakota State’s Trent Sprenkle 18-2 in the finals at Reno.

Robles is a two-time All-American. He placed fourth at the NCAA tournament in 2009 and seventh in 2010.

Note: To nominate a wrestler for TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week, send the athlete's name, accomplishments for the week and career accomplishments to Craig Sesker at csesker@usawrestling.org
