California USA Wrestling offering 4,000 free tickets to All-Star Classic with current USAW card



California USA Wrestling Inc. will provide a complimentary NWCA All Star Classic ticket to the first 4,000 Coaches and Athletes who present their current 2010-2011 USA WRESTLING card at the ticket gate.

The All Star Classic Presented by The Marines, is scheduled for Sunday, November 21, at 2:00pm at Selland Arena in Fresno CA. Doors will open to the public at 1 p.m.

“We only get one chance to make a bold statement to influential state lawmakers and community leaders,” said Duane Morgan, State Chairman of USA Wrestling-California. “It has been made clear to us that in order to stop the continual loss of programs; we need help from influential legislative leaders.”

As of today, we have done that! The NWCA has been taking the lead in this effort and the California wrestling community is greatly appreciative. The All Star Classic is returning to California for the second year in a row just to help bring more awareness and resources to the challenge. Revenues from this year’s event will help fund a viable, cost effective strategy designed to save several threatened intercollegiate wrestling teams and/or to restore several other teams that have already been discontinued.

The event will be held at Selland Arena in Fresno, Calif., Sunday, November 21.

Here is a schedule for the fans that day:
* Autograph signing with Olympians/Stars 12:30 - 2:00pm
* Special Awards Given 2:10 pm
* National Anthem 2:25 pm
* Wrestling Starts 2:30 pm
* Autograph signing with college athletes, 5:30 p.m. - 6:15 p.m.

Among the celebrities who are expected at the event include:
* Steve Fraser, Olympic champion and National Greco-Roman coach
* Bill Zadick, World champion, NCAA champion and Assistant National Freestyle Coach
* Terry Steiner, National Women's Coach at NCAA champion
* Henry Cejudo, Olympic champion
* Urijah Faber – former UC Davis Wrestler and MMA Star
* Daniel Cormier, Two-time Olympian, World medalist and MMA star
* Ben Askren, Olympian, two-time NCAA champion and MMA star
* Phil Davis, NCAA champion and MMA star
* Rich Bender, USA Wrestling Executive Director
and many others...

Fans can also purchase tickets at the Selland Arena ticket office, which is open this week, Monday through Friday from 10 am - 6 pm.

California USA Wrestling and the NWCA are hosting the All-Star Classic as a fundraiser to preserve and develop college wrestling in California.

The NWCA and California USA Wrestling are collaborating on strategies and outlining new programs to build awareness, raise funds and support legislative initiatives aimed at preserving the state’s collegiate wrestling programs. The 45th Annual NWCA All-Star Classic presented by the Marines is an important step in building momentum behind their efforts.
