Iowa native Davis to wrestle for Univ. of Northern Iowa

CEDAR FALLS -- University of Northern Iowa head wrestling coach Brad Penrith has announced the addition of Chad Davis to the 2001-02 roster. Davis signed a letter-of-intent to compete for the Panthers next year. A native of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Davis completed his senior season with a record of 48-3 and a career mark of 168-7. The past two seasons Davis led Lewis Central to the team individual 3A-state title and the dual meet state title. He is a four-time conference and city champion along with being a three-time district champion. With 116 career pins he is the school*s career pin leader. "We are excited to have the opportunity to sign an athlete the quality of Chad Davis," said Penrith. "He will bring experience and depth to the lower weights. He has learned a great deal of skill from one of the best high schools in the state and the nation." InterMat has him ranked 12th in the nation, while Wrestling USA has him rated 15th. Look for Davis to compete for the Panthers at 125 or 133 pounds.
