Victoria Anthony named TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week for July 14-20



Victoria Anthony (Huntington Beach, Calif./Team California) has been named TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week for July 14-20.

Each week, TheMat.com will select an Athlete of the Week, based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling, from youth programs through the Senior level.

Anthony won her second straight Junior Nationals women's freestyle title on July 20 at the FargoDome in Fargo, N.D.

Anthony beat fellow Californian Alex Gomez by a 7-0, 7-0 technical fall in the 102-pound finals at the Junior Nationals.

Anthony was named the tournament's Outstanding Wrestler.

Anthony will compete for the U.S. in the upcoming Junior World Championships. She placed fifth in that event last year.
