Wyoming Juniors State Championships and Cultural Exchange Team to China



THERMOPOLIS - The Wyoming State Greco-Roman and Freestyle Championships for the Juniors Division of USA Wrestling was held March 9 and 10 at the Hot Springs County High School in Thermopolis, Wyoming. The Juniors Division is for those wrestlers born after September 1, 1981 and enrolled in the ninth through twelfth grades. The top four place finishers in each style also qualify for the Wyoming Nationals Team and are eligible to compete at the Juniors National Championships in Fargo, North Dakota, July 20-28. The Wyoming Amateur Wrestling Association awards the "Triple Crown" to those wrestlers who win the Wyoming High School State Championships, the Greco-Roman State Championships, and the Freestyle State Championships all in the same year. The winners will be recognized at the Casper Events Center during the Kids/Cadet/Girls Wyoming State Championships on May 5. The Freestyle Championship Tournament also served as the qualifying tournament for the selection of the annual Wyoming Cultural Exchange Team. The Wyoming Cultural Exchange Team will hold a three day camp at the University of Wyoming in Laramie, before departing to Beijing, China, for ten days of wrestling and touring, July 1-10.
