The Northeast Cadet Freestyle Festival will be held alongside the Northeast Junior/Senior Regionals, March 24 at the Turtle North Gym on the campus of SUNY-Brockport in Brockport, N.Y.
The Cadet event was accidentally left out of the flier for the Northeast Junior/Senior event. All Cadet wrestlers from around the nation should make plans to attend.
"It gives kids a chance to compete alongside of the people they look up to," said Don Murray, event director. "They can work out with future heroes and can identify with a role model. This will provide an opportunity for people to wrestle in a first class event from the young kids to the senior levels."
Traditionally, this has been a very strong tournament, with athletes from the competitive states within the region attending, which include New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and the New England states. Wrestlers from any state are encouraged to attend.
Wrestlers must be born between 1991 and 1992 to participate.
Weight classes, in pounds, for the festival are: 84, 91, 98, 105, 112, 119, 125, 130, 135, 140, 145, 152, 160, 171, 189, 215 and 285.

Wrestlers may also register on site the day the tournament begins for an additional cost.
Deadline for online registration is March 21 at 12 p.m. (CST).
The proposed schedule is as follows:
Saturday March 24
8-9 a.m. - Cadet FS Registration
9-9:10 a.m. - Cadet FS Weigh-ins and Med Check
10 a.m.-1 p.m. - Cadet FS Preliminaries
2 p.m.-Conclusion - Cadet FS Medals, Finals & Awards
