UNC Greensboro's Jeff Hedges named Southern Conference Wrestler of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - UNC Greensboro junior Jeff Hedges has been named the Southern Conference Wrestler of the Week for his performance in the Spartans' three dual matches last week.

Hedges, a Havre, Mont., native, finished 3-0 at 125 lbs. for UNCG. He recorded a fall victory over Gardner-Webb's Cortney Roberts in UNCG's 36-9 win and then tallied a 13-5 major decision over Buffalo's Dan Bishop in the Spartans' 22-14 loss on Wednesday. Hedges grabbed his first conference win of the season with a 23-7 technical fall over Appalachian State's Frank Celorrio in UNCG's 30-15 league win on Sunday. With the three wins, Hedges improves to 13-4 overall, 1-0 in the conference.

The Spartans (3-1, 1-0 SoCon) return to the mat on Friday when they travel to VMI. Match begins at 7:30 pm.
