Andy Hrovat named TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week for Nov. 14-20

Andy Hrovat (Ann Arbor, Mich./New York AC) has been named TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week for Nov. 14-20.

Each week, TheMat.com will select an Athlete of the Week, based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling, from youth programs through the Senior level. The announcement will be made each week on Wednesday.

Hrovat was named Outstanding Wrestler in men's freestyle after winning the 84 kg/185 pound title on Nov. 19 at the American Airlines/New York AC Holiday International, which was held at the famous New York Athletic Club.

Hrovat, a 2006 U.S. World Team member, pinned Clint Wattenberg (Ithaca, N.Y./New York AC) in the finals. It was a rematch of the 2006 World Team Trials championship series, won by Hrovat.

Hrovat is ranked No. 1 in the U.S. at 84 kg/185 pounds by TheMat.com. He lost in the first round at his first World Championships in late September in Guangzhou, China, and did not place.
