Beckman of Upper Iowa is Iowa Conference Athlete of the Week

Cory Beckman of Upper Iowa, Verlon Cleveland of William Penn and Greta Pemsl of Dubuque were named Iowa Conference Athletes of the Week for their performances last week in wrestling, men's basketball and women's basketball, respectively. Beckman was named the Outstanding Wrestler on Thursday at the Iowa Conference Championships after winning the title at 149 pounds. Beckman, a sophomore from New Hampton, outscored his four opponents 55-23, and beat second-seeded Garrett Kurth of Luther 5-4 in the semifinals and top-seeded Craig Collins of Loras 12-7 in the championship match. All three are ranked nationally, with Beckman ranked eighth.
