2000 U.S. Olympic Greco-Roman Wrestling Team Training Camp Begins



The 2000 U.S. Olympic Greco-Roman Wrestling Team will hold its first segment of Training Camp at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo., August 14-26. Training camp is mandatory for all U.S. Olympic team members. It will be the first time the members of the team that will represent the United States in Sydney will come together since competing in Puddubny, Russia in early August. Training camp will be conducted by the U.S. Olympic head coachDan Chandler of Minneapolis, Minn., assistant coach Rob Hermann of Pensacola, Fla., and National Greco-Roman coach Steve Fraser of Colorado Springs, Colo. Coach Fraser said the first segment of Training Camp serves as an evaluation period for the coaches and athletes. The camp will be set up with daily morning and afternoon practices and video viewing sessions. The wrestlers and coaches also participate in USOC Media Training presented by The Speaking Specialists in order to better prepare for the abundance of media in Sydney. There will be time allotted each day for members of the media to meet and interview wrestlers and coaches as well. Other members of the National Greco-Roman Team and other talented training partners will attend training camp as well.
