The Las Vegas/ASICS United States National Wrestling Championships will be broadcast nationally on College Sports Television (CSTV).
The show, which will be two hours in length, is scheduled to be aired shortly after the tournament, on Friday, April 21, at a time to be announced. The broadcast will also be aired a number of other times on CSTV. Check your local listings for the time and station in your area.
The nation's best international wrestlers will compete at the Las Vegas/ASICS United States National Wrestling Championships in all three styles, battling for national titles and All-American honors.
Serving as the analyst for the broadcast will be 1988 Olympian Ken Chertow. In 2005, Chertow was named Wrestling Broadcaster of the Year by the National Wrestling Media Association.
Champions from the U.S. Nationals earn the No. 1 seed at the World Team Trials in their style. The World Team Trials for men's freestyle and Greco-Roman will be held in Sioux City, Iowa, May 27-28. The Women's World Team Trials will be in Colorado Springs, Colo., June 30.
Action at the U.S. National Championships is always wide open. There will be talented veteran wrestlers who want to establish themselves, while many young athletes are seeking to make their mark on the national scene. This tournament is very hard to predict.
CSTV has also notified USA Wrestling that they will be airing another two-hour wrestling broadcast from the U.S. World Team Trials, scheduled for Sioux City, Iowa, May 27-28.
The nation's top wrestlers in men's freestyle and men's Greco-Roman will compete at the World Team Trials, with the winners earning spots on the U.S. World Team that will compete in Guangzhou, China, Sept. 26-Oct. 1.
As with the U.S. Nationals, CSTV plans to air the World Team Trials on a tape-delayed basis after the competition, on Tuesday, June 6. The time for this broadcast has not yet been determined.
CSTV has made a commitment to covering wrestling in recent years. They also aired 11 college wrestling broadcasts during the 2005-06 season. Tune in to CSTV for the best of international wrestling, featuring major USA Wrestling events.
