Ben Askren named Big 12 Wrestler of the Month for December



DALLAS - Ben Askren (Missouri) has been named Big 12 Wrestler of the
Month for his performance during meets in December. Askren receives
recognition for the second time in his career.

Ben Askren, Jr., 174 pounds, Missouri (Hartland, Wis.)
Two-time NCAA runner-up Askren posted a 14-0 record in the month of
December and took home the 174-pound title at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas
Invitational and Southern Scuffle. Racking up falls on the season,
Askren pinned 10 of his opponents in December and broke Missouri's
career falls record, by posting his 48th pin against Nick Padazan of
Pittsburgh on Dec. 3.

The Big 12 will name a Wrestler of the Week starting Monday, Jan. 16.
