Warren named TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week

Joe Warren (Colorado Springs, Colo./New York AC) has been named TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week for the week of December 14-20. Each week, TheMat.com will select an Athlete of the Week, based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling, from youth programs through the Senior level. Warren, the champion at 60 kg/132 lbs., was named Outstanding Wrestler in the men's Greco-Roman division at the New York Athletic Club Christmas International in New York City, December 18-19. Warren defeated Willie Madison (Metairie, La./USOEC) in the gold-medal finals, 6-0, 4-0. Warren dominated the action throughout the match. In three matches, Warren did not allow a point to any of his opponents. It was the second straight year that Warren has won the NYAC Christmas International title. Warren was the 2004 U.S. Olympic Team Trials runner-up at his weight division. He is a U.S. Olympic Training Center resident athlete. He competed in college for the Univ. of Michigan, where he was a two-time All-American. Click here to view previous Athletes of the Week
