U.S. women’s team to compete in Grand Prix of Spain in Madrid, Spain, July 13

MADRID, Spain – The United States women’s freestyle team featuring four members of the U.S. World Team will compete in the Grand Prix of Spain on July 13 in Madrid, Spain.

2012 World champion Elena Pirozhkova is fresh off a win at the 2013 World Team Trials where she earned a berth onto the U.S. World team at 63 kg/138.75 lbs. The 2012 U.S. Olympic team member also collected wins at the Dave Schultz Memorial International and the U.S. Open earlier this season.

2012 World champion Adeline Gray will compete for the U.S. at 72 kg/158.5 lbs. after a win at the 2013 U.S. World Team Trials in Stillwater, Okla. Gray also placed second at the Dave Schultz Memorial International. She has moved up a weight class this year.

Helen Maroulis, a 2012 World silver medalist will represent the U.S. at 55 kg/121 lbs. She recently won the 2013 U.S. World Team Trials, the 2013 U.S. Open and beat Irina Kisel of Russia at the Rumble on the Rails event in New York City. Maroulis also won a 2013 WCWA Women’s College National title.

Also wrestling for the U.S. women’s team will be 2012 World bronze medalist Alyssa Lampe at 48 kg/105.5 lbs. Earlier this year Lampe picked up big wins at the U.S. Open and the U.S. World Team Trials.

2013 U.S. Open champion Jessica Medina will compete at 51 kg/112.25 lbs. and Tamyra Mensah will wrestle at 67 kg/147.5 lbs.

U.S. women’s national coach Terry Steiner and assistant coach Seiko Yamamoto will coach the team Spain.
