FLASH: Finals set for WCWA Women’s Nationals as Simon Fraser leads with six finalists

Two-time WCWA National Champion Helen Maroulis of Simon Fraser has secured a spot in the the finals again.

BRISTOL, Tenn. – The gold-medal finals have been set at the 2013 WCWA Nationals on Saturday, in what has turned out to be a three-team race for the title.

No. 1 ranked Simon Fraser has six finalists including two-time champions Victoria Anthony (109), Helen Maroulis (130) and Danielle Lappage (160), plus returning champion Justina DiStasio (170) along with Sidney Morrison (143) and Jenna McLatchy (191).

Four-time defending champion Oklahoma City has five finalists: returning champions Emily Webster (101) and Joey Miller (116), plus Stephanie Geltmacher (143), Brittney Roberts (170) and Heather O’Connor (191).

Returning team runner-up and host King College has five finalists: returning champion Emily Martin (109), plus Sarah Hildebrandt (123), Kat Perez (123), Ali Ragan (136) and Julia Salata (155).

Returning champion Shauna Isbell of Lindenwood is in the 130 finals against Maroulis, a 2012 World silver medalist.

The lowest seed to reach the finals was No. 6 Caitlyn Chase of Missouri Baptist, who won her semifinal over No. 2 Darby Huckle of Simon Fraser in the semifinals.
