COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - USA Wrestling is proud to announce a partnership agreement with the United States Marine Corps. The partnership calls for support of several high profile USA Wrestling events, television coverage of the World Team Trials and various publication/event marketing rights for The Marines.

The Marine Corps' mission is to make Marines, win battles, and develop quality citizens. These men and women live by a set of core values, which form the foundation of everything the Corps stands for: honor, courage, and commitment.

USA Wrestling can point to numerous distinguished Marines with wrestling backgrounds. Among them are, General Charles Krulak, a former Commandant of the Marine Corps, and Lieutenant General John Sattler, former Commander of the First Marine Expeditionary Force in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Another notable former Marine wrestler is the late Major Ray Mendoza, who was an NCAA All-American and also represented the USA in international competitions. These Marines represent an untold number of wrestlers who transferred the values they learned through wrestling into their careers in the Marine Corps.

The All-Marine Wrestling Team is also highly accomplished. Marine Sergeant Jacob Clark is currently the number #1 rated wrestler in the country as ranked by USA Wrestling, and competed in the 2006 World Championships in Greco-Roman.

"The Marine Corps continues to recognize that many of the traits that make successful wrestlers are the same traits that make successful Marines. We are proud to partner with USA Wrestling ", states Capt J.C. zurLippe, Marine Corps Recruiting Command. "Through their dedication and service, today's young generation will undoubtedly ensure a better tomorrow for all Americans."

USA Wrestling's Executive Director, Rich Bender was delighted to add the Marines to its list of distinguished corporate partners.

"USA Wrestling is pleased and honored to partner with the United States Marine Corps. This partnership will have a wonderful and positive impact furthering our mission. and I believe a solid wrestler can make a solid Marine".

Larry Nugent, USA Wrestling's Director of Development said, "Even though USA Wrestling is 160,000 strong, I have no doubt the Marines can leverage our organization to find more young men and women ready to accept the challenge of being one of 'The Few. The Proud.' USA Wrestling will work hard with the Marines to give them the tools to recruit excellent Marines."
