Thompson, who is wrestling in his first World Championships, drew Aydin Polatci of Turkey in his first round match on Wednesday. Polatci was a 2004 Olympic bronze medalist, and a 2002 World bronze medalist.

Wong drew Dashdavaa Baasanjargal of Mongolia in her opening match. Wong was a 2003 World bronze medalist and is competing in her second World meet. Baasanjargal was third in the 2005 Asian Championships

Murata will wrestle Emese Szabo of Hungary in the first round. Murata, a veteran of many past World Championships, is a past World silver medalist. Szabo is competing in her second World meet, but has not yet placed in the top 10.

All three weight divisions will begin and be completed on Wednesday, Sept. 28.
