Michigan's Massa captures Greco-Roman title at Western Junior Regionals in Las Vegas

 LAS VEGAS – It was a memorable 2008 season for Michigan’s Taylor Massa.
He won USA Wrestling’s Triple Crown in Cadets last year after capturing National championships in Folkstyle, Greco-Roman and Freestyle.
Massa picked up where he left off on Wednesday, rolling to the 145-pound title in the Western Junior Regionals Greco-Roman competition at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
Massa registered a convincing 6-0, 6-0 finals win over Washington’s John Thompson.
Utah’s Carson Kuhn repeated as champion after capturing the title at 112 pounds. Kuhn downed Christopher Ornelas of Arizona, 2-0, 1-0 in the finals.
Among the other champions crowned was Missouri’s Alan Waters, a past Cadet Nationals champion who won the Western Junior Regional at 119.
Waters defeated Michael Nakagawa of Hawaii 6-0, 7-0 in the finals.
Cadet Nationals runner-up Morgan McIntosh of California looked strong in winning a tough bout over Minnesota’s Joel Bauman in the 189 finals. McIntosh won 4-0, 1-3, 7-1.
Bauman is a past Cadet Nationals champion.
McIntosh was named Outstanding Wrestler of the tournament.
