  • Eligibility

    All athletes who meet age group requirements, any existing state qualifying procedures and are current members of USA Wrestling are eligible to participate. All athletes and coaches must present proof of current USA Wrestling Membership Card at registration. To purchase a USAW Wrestling Membership Card, please click HERE. Alternatively, Membership Cards can be acquired from the State Chairperson or State Membership Director of the contestant’s state of residence. Secondary sports accident insurance is provided as a benefit of membership. This includes all Canadian athletes participating in the FILA Cadet and Girl’s (Grades 3rd—6th and Grades 7th—8th) Division. The FILA Junior Division is open only to U.S. citizens eligible to represent the United States at 2009 World Championships. Athletes MUST be a U.S. citizen prior to the start of this event. Just a reminder, all USA Wrestling Coaches Membership Cards MUST be attained prior to the event, due to mandatory background checking. For a Coaches Membership Card, please click HERE. PLEASE ALLOW UP TO 30 DAYS FOR COMPLETION OF USAW COACHES MEMBERSHIP/BACKGROUND CHECK PROCESS. This rule also applies to all Canadian coaches. Tours and Camps OLYMPIC DEVELOPMENT CAMP: April 29–May 10, 2009. All athletes must contact Coach Izzy by April 10th. Contact Coach Izzy either by e-mail at izzy@usawrestling.org, or by phone at (719) 265-3647. Rate for the camp is $110 for fully-funded access athletes and $45/day for all other athletes. FILA CADET TOUR: August 3-16, 2009. All FILA Cadet participants at the Body Bar National Championships are eligible for the Cadet Pan American Championship in Managua, Nicaragua. This tour is self-funded. Athletes who are interested in this tour must contact Tony Deanda (USOEC Women’s Freestyle Assistant Coach) by May 15th. Contact Coach Deanda either by e-mail at cdeanda@nmu.edu, or by phone at (719) 359-6446. 1 FILA JUNIOR WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS: July 31–August 8, 2009. Champions qualify to represent the United States at the 2009 FILA Junior World Championships in Konya, Turkey. The FILA Junior World Championships and all related camps and competitions are fully subsidized. In order to compete at the FILA Junior World Championships, all athletes must attend the following camps and competitions: 1) June 25–July 2, 2009: Pre-Canada Cup camp: United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, CO 2) July 3–July 5, 2009: Canada camp & competition: Guelph, Canada 3) July 11–22, 2009: FILA Junior World Team Training Camp: Fargo, ND 4) July 20–21, 2009: Junior National Championships: Fargo, ND 5) July 26–30, 2009: Pre-FILA Junior World Championships camp: United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, CO 6) July 31–August 8, 2009: FILA Junior World Championships: Konya, Turkey

FILA JUNIOR PAN AMERICAN CHAMPIONSHIPS: June 19–21, 2009. Runner-ups qualify for a partially subsidize trip to the 2009 FILA Junior Pan American Championships in Guadalajara, Mexico. For tournament information and cost, please contact Coach Izzy either by e-mail at izzy@usawrestling.org, or by phone at (719) 265-3647. 1 If the champion in any weight class of the FILA Junior division chooses not to participate in the FILA Junior World Championships, the second place finisher shall have the option to train for and compete in the FILA Junior World Championships. This process shall continue until a representative for the World Team is determined in each FILA weight class. Participants in all non-FILA weight classes contested at the Body Bar Women’s National Championships are ineligible for World Team selection. Information regarding the FILA Junior World Championships and FILA Junior Pan American Championships will be provided by USA Wrestling’s National Team coaches upon the completion of the event.
