Cary, N.C.— The Triangle Sports Commission, a US Olympic Committee Community Olympic Partner, will host a 2013 Olympic Day celebration event, featuring the Triangle’s Jamill Kelly, Olympic Silver Medalist in the sport of wrestling. Jamill will lead the celebration at the Weisiger-Brown building on the NC State University campus at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 25th. Kelly, an assistant coach for the Wolfpack wrestling team, will be joined by Bob Alejo, strength coach for the 2012 U.S. Olympic volleyball team.

Open to any and all entrants, the Olympic Day celebration will include a presentation by Kelly on his Olympic experiences and the importance of Olympic values. Additionally, Kelly and members of the NC State wrestling team will provide a demonstration of the sport.

Each participant will receive an official Olympic Day certificate of participation. Space is limited, so to RSVP, please contact Faryn Roy at froy@trianglesportscommission.com.

Olympic Day is a worldwide commemoration of Baron Pierre dCoubertin’s June 23, 1894, convening of the first International Olympic Committee (IOC) meeting at the Sorbonne in Paris, and the founding of the Modern Olympic Games. National Olympic Committees (NOCs) throughout the world will also participate in the international celebration, with each Olympic Committee sending Olympic Day greetings to participating nations.
