FLASH: Bisek, Fisher eliminated on final day of Ivan Poddubny Grand Prix in Russia

TUMEN, Russia – The two U.S. wrestlers competing at 74 kg/163 lbs. on the final day of the Ivan Poddubny Grand Prix on Sunday were defeated and did not qualify for medal matches.
2011 World Team member Andy Bisek (Colorado Springs, Colo./Minnesota Storm) opened with a victory over an opponent from Kazakhstan, 1-0, 6-0, then was defeated in the second round by Olympic and World champion Roman Vlasov of Russia, 2-0, 1-0.
When Vlasov reached the finals, Bisek was pulled back into the repechage, where he lost a bout to a Russian, 0-2, 0-2.
2010 World Team member Jake Fisher opened with a first round loss by pin to Alexander Chehirkin of Russia. When Chehirkin reached the finals, Fisher was drawn back into the repechage, where he fell to a Russian, 2-0, 0-3, 0-3.
The U.S. brought four wrestlers to the world famous Ivan Poddubny International, one of the most competitive in the world, and came home with no medals.
"We had good training camp in Moscow with Russians and saw some very good improvement in the Poddubny tournament. The Poddubny tournament was as tough as usual. These guys still have improvement to do, but we are proud of their effort," said National Greco-Roman Coach Steve Fraser.
