The first four U.S. men’s freestyle wrestlers have weighed in and received their draws for the University World Championships in Kourtane, Finland, which begin on Tuesday.

A pair of past U.S. Junior World Team members will be competing on Tuesday, Zach Sanders (Lauderdale, Minn./Minnesota Storm) at 55 kg/121 lbs. and Jason Chamberlain (Springville, Utah/Bronco WC) at 66 kg/145.5 lbs.

Sanders, who was eighth in 2008 Junior World Championships, will open against Artem Kolomeits of Ukraine. Sanders was a four-time All-American for the Univ. of Minnesota.

Chamberlain opens with Roland Ondar of Russia.

Chamberlain competed on two U.S. Junior World Teams, including a fifth place finish in 2011. Chamberlain attends Boise State and was third at the 2011 NCAA Championships.

Also competing on Tuesday is former Illinois star Jimmy Kennedy (Ann Arbor, Mich./New York AC) at 60 kg/132 lbs. Kennedy opens against James Mancini of Canada in his opening bout at 60 kg/132 lbs. Mancini was a member of the 2010 Canadian Senior World Team, and won silver medals at the 2009 and 2010 Pan American Championships.

Kennedy, who trains now with the Cliff Keen WC at Michigan, was a three-time NCAA All-American for Illinois.

The other U.S. entry on Tuesday is former Ohio State star Colt Sponseller (Glenmont, Ohio/New York AC) at 74 kg/163 lbs. Sponseller opens with Vasyl Surzhenko of Ukraine. Surzhenko was fifth at the 2012 Black Sea Tournament held in the Ukraine

Sponseller was fourth in the 2011 NCAA Championships for Ohio State.

All four U.S. entries on Tuesday qualified for and competed at the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team Trials in Iowa City.
